Let me fill you in on a teeny embarrassing secret:
In grade 9, I donned coloured contacts for a short while.
The saying goes that the grass is always greener but I was more interested in going blue at the time. Looking back (mind the pun), the contacts didn’t fit right, I was uncomfortable, and I looked a little ridiculous. Back then, colours were just thrown on top of a lens making your eyes look weird and unnatural. Despite my odd appearance, it was actually the fit that eventually prevented me from wearing them. Ever since then, I’ve only been able to wear contacts from Air Optix. (FYI, I opt for the 30-day “Day & Night”s because it eliminates another step from my morning routine. Efficiency, hollerrrrrr!)
Last week I was invited to try Air Optix Colors – the brand’s latest coloured contact lenses at a lively and colourful event. After meeting with a lens specialist who told me about the new line and fit me for my coloured, I was treated to a personalized beauty session curated by celebrity make-up artist, Grace Lee, and then took some photos with a professional photographer.
Since I’ve learned from my past mistakes, I went for a subtle colour change with green lenses to go on top of my naturally brown eyes. Here’s a close up:
All night, everyone commented on how natural the green lenses looked. That’s because Air Optix Colors use a 3-in-1 color technology on the lenses. The outer ring defines the eyes, the primary colour (green in this case) transforms the eye colour, and the inner ring brightens and adds depth which slowly transforms the natural eye colour to the coloured lenses, leading to a natural-looking eye colour.

For now, I’m seeing green!
