RSVP: Toronto Summer Festival Round Up 2014: TURF, Field Trip, OVO

My Toronto is amazing events and summer music festivals. 

My 2013 Toronto Urban Roots Festival (TURF) post never ended up seeing the light of day, but this is how it started:

As I sit writing this post, I can hear the Honda Indy cars practicing on the Gardiner. Occasionally I hear TFC fans cheering, I hear music from outdoor concerts and in only a few weeks I’ll hear and see the airshow. I know lots of people avoid the noise of the city, but for me it’s a constant reminder of how grateful I am to live in such a vibrant and busy city.

That intro still rings true. My love for Toronto is deeply rooted in the buzz that constantly envelops the city. Now that we are out of snowstorms, polar vortexes, and ice-induced power outages we are really starting to see signs of spring, my favourite sign being the summer festival lineup announcements!

Here is a quick roundup of the summer music festival announcements from the past week:

What you can expect: Three stages, forty-four artists, beer tents, a great time.
Local acts include Born Ruffians, Hollerado, The Strumbellas, Sam Cash & The Romantic Dogs, Devin Cuddy Band. Full lineup details here.

What you can expect: an Arts & Crafts artist dominated lineup including Broken Social Scene’s only performance of the year and the Constantines reunion show. Field Trip also highlights local food and art. Full lineup details here.

What you can expect: Headlining performancs by Outkast on August 3 and Drake on August 4, plus big name supporting guests on both evenings. Drake has brought out Kanye, Stevie Wonder, Lil Wayne, Nas, Jay-Z, and Eminem in past years so it’s anyone’s guess who this year will bring out, but you know it’s going to be good!
