Introducing: Toronto’s New Indie Radio Station Indie88

About a year ago we all started to hear whispers about a new radio station coming to Toronto. An indie music station that would presumably fill the gap between our own Rdio playlists and the crap music that Edge plays nowadays. A few weeks ago (coincidentally, the day of Edgefest) Indie88 went on the air to rave reviews. Everyone was talking about Indie88 and the songs that they loved that were finally getting radio airplay.

Indie 88 Toronto Radio

I’ve been tuning in to Indie88 almost every day since it’s somewhat unofficial launch. One of my favourite programs is the Throne of Glory where someone else takes over the station to play their favourite indie music every day from 4-6pm. So far I’ve heard music giants like Alan Cross and Eric Alper and some of my favourite musicians like July Talk and Wade MacNeil of Gallows. Β This week you can hear Brendan Canning, Dan Mangan, Matthew Good, Hollerado, and Dave Bookman!

With Alan Cross taking the wheel as Programming Director and Raina as the Music Director, it really is no wonder that Indie88 is one of my favourite new radio stations. Indie88 also has some great web content that they are constantly updating. And you know how I feel about people who are on top of their digital game πŸ˜‰

You can stream Indie88 online or tune in at 88.1.
