On Tuesday I joined some friends at Fitfix for an intense workout class. Val, who has been training at Fitfix for almost 6 months has taken the class and it kicked her little toned butt. So you can imagine how worried I was, since this statement accurately sums up my workout regimen since January:
I’m so nervous for #FitKick tonight. The only cardio I’ve done in weeks is hyperventilating at my computer and running to Starbucks.

The class is called FitKick and it’s a small group training class that focuses on kicking and interval training to achieve results. Since the class is kept really small, you can almost target the class and exercises to suit your fitness goals. We did exercises that targeted our legs, bums, and cores which are areas I think all women try to tone. Our trainer Kathleen was third in the world in Taekwondo so she can really kick butt!
Working out with a group of friends was actually really fun. To be honest, I was really dreading the class before I got there. It was rainy out and I didn’t feel like being active. I miss my yoga and spin classes and always feel like such a dork in group fitness classes. But as soon as I walked into the room and felt the energy of the other girls, we were laughing and smiling through our kicks in no time.
FitFix is a studio-based training facility at Yonge and Eglinton. Their trainers are all NSCA certified and are available whether you are looking to tone up, lose weight, or stay in shape. They also offer sport-specific training. The studio is open and inviting and you get a real sense of community – everyone knows everyone.
FitFix offers personal training with no monthly fee on top of it. You just pay for your training sessions and can buy them in bulk to save. While you’re welcome to use the machines to do your own cardio workouts, the emphasis is on one-on-one training to help reach your goals. This type of accountability makes me work my hardest – no taking it easy on the treadmill and no missed appointments!
Fitfix is offering a special savings for my blog readers! Just tell them you heard about them through this blog and try out a Fitfix class for only $20 or get 15 personal training sessions for the price of 12. This is only available until April 18th, 2013! I would love to do another group class, so please let me know if you plan on going and I just may tag along!
