Spring Trends: TOMS Shoes Make a Comfortable Statement

Regardless of what Mother Nature wants us to think it is spring in Toronto! After spending a week in sandals and flats in Austin last month I am really itching to ditch the socks and shoes and slide into a pair of flats. As if they were telepathic, TOMS has announced their spring arrivals.

TOMS is a shoe and eyewear company based in California. Linked to their non-profit subsidiary, Friends of Toms, works to provide shoes and eyewear to impoverished children. In fact, for every pair of shoes TOMS sells a pair is given to a child in need. For each pair of glasses sold, part of the profit is used to save or restore the eyesight for people living in developing countries.

My favourites TOMS for spring:

TOMS Basic flats and patterns that play on current trends: chambray, denim stripes, and crochet patterns.

Fun patterns that stand out: Floral patterns are huge this spring and TOMS does not disappoint.

How fun are these prints? From a bold print of women’s faces, cute animals, and colourful prints.

Wedges, wedges, wedges. I’m loving the casual chambray wedge, and floral and bright coloured wedge sandals.

Now that I’ve got you dreaming of shoes I’ve got something else to say: take them off. Take them all off! For charity, of course!

On April 16, 2013, TOMS is hosting the annual One Day Without Shoes to bring awareness to children’s health and education. Every day, millions of people go without shoes, contributing to the spread of diseases, preventing them from getting a proper education and growing up to be confident individuals. We are going without shoes so that kids don’t have to!

Want to participate? There are a few ways you can help:

  • Join the walk! On Tuesday, April 16, at 12:00pm, meet up with your fellow walkers at Victoria Street & Gould Street in Toronto and walk to Yonge Street, Queen Street West, Bay Street, Dundas Street and end up back at the starting location.
  • Go barefoot! Whether it’s at home, in class, or at the office, kick your shoes off and encourage those around you to do the same. You can spread the word online using #withoutshoes and @TOMS.

Love this post Jamie! I was totally obsessed with the crochet patterned Toms last year, but didn’t want the black and thought the white to get too dirty. I was so happy to see they had more colours in it this year! They’ve really branched out from the original solid colours. I will definitely do my best to go shoeless on Apr. 16!
