After making New Year’s Eve plans and planning the perfect outfit and midnight kiss, there is only one more important decision to make:
What will you be toasting in 2013 with?
Here are my picks for the best champagnes, bubblies, and sparklings to toast to the New Year:
The Brut Cuvee from Barefoot Wines is a traditional bubbly with hints of green apple and fruity flavours with a crisp finish. At only $10.99 at the LCBO, don’t be afraid to grab a few bottles and share with friends.
Want to step up your traditional champagne? Here is a recipe for the Brut Cuvee “El Clasico” champagne cocktail that is sure to impress your guests.
Veuve Clicquot is a classic champagne pick for New Year’s. The Brut Yellow Label champagne is a golden yellow wine with notes of fruit and hints of vanilla. It is a sophisticated champagne with a price tag of about $68 for 750mL at the LCBO.
Jackson-Triggs Methode Classique Brut sparkling wine is one example of an amazing sparkling wine from Ontario. The extra-dry sparkling wine is fruity with tons of apples, cinnamon, and if you ask me, tastes like a bakery in a bottle! It retails in the LCBO for $22.95 and is sure to sell out this New Year’s Eve.
Another great example of an Ontario VQA sparkling wine comes from one of my favourite vineyards, Chateau des Charmes. The Brut sparkling wine is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and is made like a traditional champagne. With light citrus flavours and a full, creamy flavour, your guests will be impressed and at $22.95 per bottle your wallet will be too.
Remember to grab an extra bottle of sparkling and some OJ to ring in the first morning of 2013 too!
