#12DaysofContests – Day 8: Two $25 Credits for Hailo

For the 8th day of Christmas JamieLeighTO.com gave to thee: two $25 credits for Hailo taxi service!

It’s hard to understand the consequences of drunk driving. They always seems so far removed; unless of course you come from a family whose lives have been affected by drunk driving. I come from one of those families. I lost my cousin almost 17 years ago to a drunk driver, and I couldn’t imagine driving if I even needed to question my sobriety. In fact, my personal rule is that I won’t drink at all if I have to drive after. I don’t know how each drink is going to affect me so I don’t risk it. I’m lucky to live in a large city with easy access to public transportation and taxis and I don’t need to drive very often, but unfortunately that just isn’t the reality for everyone, including people who live in the city too.

The holiday season can be even more tricky. Everyone is busy and might be enjoying a few extra wobbly pops to help with the seasonal stress or to celebrate. The good news: Hailo and Molson Coors have teamed up to get you home safely this holiday season by giving away $1,000,000 in free taxi rides! In a partnership praised by Toronto Police Services, Hailo and Molson Coors are distributing cards with promo codes to bars around the city. All you need to do is pick up a $10 Hailo card when you’re at one of the participating bars, enter the code in the Hailo app, and get home safely!

The Hailo app allows you to request a cab, see where they are on a map in real-time and how many minutes away your driver is. You can call your driver directly and see their name ahead of time, so there is a huge safety aspect of using the Hailo app. They are also the only licensed taxi app in the city! I like the fact that if I leave something in a Hailo I can easily contact my driver to retrieve it. I have used Hailo over 25 times since it’s launch in Toronto a few months ago and have always received excellent customer service from the friendly drivers. The app charges your credit card directly so you don’t have to worry about fumbling around for change at the end of your ride.

Enter to win one of two $25 credits for Hailo!

I have been a DD for Oktoberfest in the past…more entertaining to be able to drink, have fun and be safe by not driving!!

I didnt drink in college, and was the DD every weekend. I had a strict no puking in the car rule, and am pleased to say there never was an infraction!

There isn’t one time when I am not the DD because my friends are all party animals! My DD responsibilities include holding my best friend’s hair back (he’s male by the way), making a mandatory stop at either Smoke’s or Burrito Boyz and then get his ass home safely.

As someone who lost a good friend in high school to a drunk driver, I applaud this cause.

I’m never the DD because I don’t drive but I always keep extra cash in my pocket if a good friends needs it to get home safely 🙂

I seemed to always be the DD growing up – as I always had a car to use and I didn’t drink very much, if at all. Most recent experience… planned a night out and volunteered to be the DD. Got everyone home (or wherever they were going) safely 🙂

I was always the DD when I was younger as I was the only one who drove. I found my drunk friends quite entertaining e.g their wobbly walks up the driveway.

Been fortunate enough to have never been the DD. Victorious so far amongst the contests my friends I have to not be it.

  13. December 10, 2012 / 6:54 pm

I am the DD without a car and am responsible for getting friends home by cab or public transit.

  14. December 10, 2012 / 9:19 pm

Yeah, I fail at being DD since I don’t drive. We’ll fix this soon, though 🙂

I’ve actually never been the DD, but that’s because I moved to Toronto before I was drinking age and no one has a car here.

Was recently at a party in Dubai’s 360. Drove 3 drunk friends home. Wish hailo was available there.

My wife and I have a deal that I DD for weddings that involve “her friends” and she DD’s for ones that involve “my friends”. If they’re out of town that is.

  19. December 11, 2012 / 5:04 pm

I’ve been DD quite a few times, but not so much these days as most of my friends don’t drink that often anymore and if they do they end up hailing a cab instead

  20. December 11, 2012 / 5:44 pm

I barely drive. I am always responsible and take a cab. Or my wife is the DD for the night. I am lucky that she doesn’t drink. 🙂

I don’t drive but my metropass was lost/stolen last week so extra cab fare would be great!
