Tonight is the kick off party for Indie Week Canada 2012 at the Hideout. Doors are at 7pm, tickets and wristbands for the festival available at the door. Last years’s winners, NIXON, will be playing at the Hideout tonight with this year’s winners from Indie Week Ireland, Leading Armies.
Festivals like this are a great way to find and support up-and-coming indie musicians. You can view the official schedule here, or just wander around to the participating venues and see what you like.
I didn’t know, but Indie Week also has panels dedicated to the digital and music industries. Glen Matlock (of the Sex Pistols) is even speaking and performing on Saturday. The panels are mostly about how music and social media interact. Check out the panelists – all familiar ones around these blog parts!
I’ll be buzzing around the festival this week whenever I get a chance and this weekend Jordan will be judging the bands at Cameron House and the Hideout – two of my fave small venues for live music.
RSVP: Show up at any door and risk paying cover at the venue, grab a wristband for $40 here on at the Hideout, or for the most bang for your buck, get 2 wristbands for $40 at T.O. Tix (in Dundas Square).
What shows do you recommend at Indie Week this year?
