As the summer slowly draws to a close, it seems the only thing we can look forward to is the CNE and the promise of exhilarating rides, deep-fried experiments, live music, and games.
This is what everyone is talking about at the CNE this year:
This year’s addition to the deep-fried gluttony is a bacon-wrapped, deep-fried hot dog and don’t worry, last year’s deep-fried butter, deep-fried cola, and deep-fried Mars bars are back to coat your arteries once again! The food building has also added 11 new “gourmet” vendors including Far East Taco, PULL’D – (pulled meat specialities), Vie (organic raw fare), Loaded Baked Potatoes, Bacon Nation (every good with bacon), Just Cone It! (every food in a cone), Thyme & Olives – (Lebonese style baked goods), Dutch Frites, Big Apple Fritters, Sweetness Bakery (cupcakes), and Fresh Fuel Smoothies.
The folks over at the CNE have also cashed in on our love for Food Trucks this year with a whole weekend dedicated to Food Truck Frenzy. From August 24th to 26th the CNE will be home to 17 different food trucks including Blue Donkey Streetery, Buster’s Sea Cove, Canuk Pizza Truck, Fidel Gastro, Food Dudes, Gourmet B1tches, Hank Daddy’s Barbeque, Gourmet Gringos, Hank Daddy’s Barbeque, Hogtown Smoke, Mike’s Dog House, Per Se Mobile, Pretty Sweet, Rollin’ on the River, Stuft, Sweetness Bakery, Texas Tornado, The Urban Smoke, Tiny Toms.
The CNE bandshell is host to daily concerts from some pretty impressive acts and entrance is free with CNE admission. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. I’ve highlighted my favourites in the schedule below:
