Yogurty’s, Skinnygirl Cocktails, Chipotle, & So Many Events!

It’s been a while since I’ve told you what I’ve been up to the past little while. I used to do weekend wrapups but I’ll admit I tend to hibernate in the winter and pictures of me on the computer or walking the dog through a blizzard just aren’t that riveting, even to me. While I try to always include my own personal spin on the content I publish here I thought I’d keep you updated on what I’ve been doing with my post-5pm “free time”.

The last few weeks have been busy!

A couple weeks ago I was invited to a small dinner at Chipotle with a few other blogesses. I wasn’t very familiar with the Chipotle brand before I went but I was surprised to hear that they already have three busy locations in Toronto and a new one opening at Yorkdale Mall this month.I generally don’t get very excited about fast food unless we’re talking about McDonalds breakfast but Chipotle is committed to the concept of “food with integrity” which means that all of the ingredients they use come from local farmers who grow food naturally and sustainably. The food is super high quality for “fast food”.

They make all of their guacamole on site!

This is a serious burrito. It gave some of my loyal burrito spots a run for their money! The chicken was moist and seasoned and I added brown rice, lettuce and a healthy heap of the fresh guacamole.

Continuing on in my quest to never fit into a bathing suit again, I tried out some new flavours at the Yogurty’s on Bloor. I’m pretty embarrassed to admit that I have never had froyo before so this pretty much blew my mind. I learned that Yogurty’s is a Canadian company and that there were actually a few health benefits to the treat.

First you get the froyo.
This is all self-serve – you can pick at many different kinds of froyo you want!
There were at least 14 different flavours to choose from, including the new Greek-style Yogurt flavour. I sampled a few (okay, a lot), but decided to go with Espresso and Vanilla.

Then you get the toppings.

And more toppings.
There are over 100 different flavours and toppings to choose from.
You can add however much of whatever you want. I saw some more conservative and self-restrained guests get a small bowl of froyo and sprinkle one topping on it. I, on the other hand…

Added lots of different things.
These were our creations. Can you guess which one is mine?

Demolished 🙂
The frozen yogurt at Yogurty’s is made from fresh Canadian dairy products and has the most probiotic cultures added. Probiotics are great for overall health but also play a huge role in keeping women healthy so I didn’t have to feel totally guilty for the indulgence.

By July, Toronto will be home to seven Yogurty’s locations including:
– the Annex @ 527 Bloor St. W.
– Bloor West Village @ 2203 Bloor St. W.
– Yonge and Brookdale Ave @ 3285 Yonge St.
– Parliament and Winchester @ 521 Parliament St.
– Danforth and Jones @ 475-477 Danforth Ave.
– The Beaches @ 2205 Queen St. E.
– Liberty Village @ 109 Atlantic Ave.

After noshing on some delicious treats I headed over to the Drake for launch of new flavours of Bethanny Frankel’s Skinnygirl Cocktails. I’m sure you saw the hashtag #SkinnygirlTO because every blogger and their mother were there – it was a blast! Snacks provided by the Drake included fresh sushi and balanced out the low-cal drinks. The event was hosted by Toronto Skinnygirl Dina Pugliese.

Skinnygirl is known for their original margarita mixture. You just pop open the bottle and add ice. I’m more of a tequila girl than anything so I’m surprised I haven’t tried this one yet.
Pro tip: grab an extra bottle to make a few trays of ice cubes, that way when your cubes melt they won’t dilute your drink.

The Skinnygirl mixtures all come ready-to-drink and include white wine sangria, new margarita flavours and a variety of vodka-based cocktails.

What’s better than sipping low-cal cocktails with your girlfriends?
Oh yeah, getting mini manis from the Lux girls while you do it.
I sipped on a delish white cranberry Cosmo and chatted with some new lady-friends from Lux Spa.

With a hair stylist on hand for touch ups and fab up-dos and cake pop brownies on hand, it was the ultimate sleepover experience without drab PJs and unfortunately, the pillow fights.

I went home with a bottle of the white wine sangria which will go perfect with my girl’s night this weekend!

Some other things I’ve been up to…

Brainstorming and mapping out ideas for my BiLLe Lotto Best Blogger contest submission – filming tonight! Maybe I’ll post it here.

Finding out Nyan Cat lives in my ‘hood

All of these pictures were posted to my Instagram at some point. I’m loving what people (and companies/brands) are doing with the mobile social network as of late. You can stay updated on my life in photos via Instagram. These are my photos lately:

This is from http://statigr.am/jamieleighto

I love my city and I love going to events, but every once in a while you just need one of these nights:

Hair up, hoodie on, takeout in.

Right now I’m swamped with volunteer and work for my freelance clients while I rest up for the mayhem that will be NXNE next week. Swiggity!

Great blog post! You’ve been busy!  Yogurty’s totally gets 10 thumbs up from me (lend me some thumbs anyone?). However, I have a long standing bone to pick with Chipotle.  I attended their opening at the Yonge/Eglinton location 2 years back. My taste buds were in love. However, when I came back on my own they charged a huge premium for guacamole on top of the price of the burrito itself.  I questioned this surprise fee at the check out, and I have boycotted them since that day. And I’m a 2 burrito a week kind of girl. Guac is integral! Someone ought to tell them! 🙂

ps. I must be a total troll for knowing this, but I guess the left cup is yours! Clues: a) nail polish colour! b) you don’t like chocolate strawberries.

hahahah I didn’t catch the nail polish but you’re right – the presence of field berries usually means it isn’t mine! Blech 😉

I know! Totally whack! I went all the time with my friends but never got anything for myself. They never had a lot of options for toppings and I *hate* berries and fruit in my ice cream which is what everyone got.
