#saveinthecity with My City Lives

Last year, Toronto beat Vancouver as the most expensive city to live in in Canada after a survey measured the cost of living in each city including housing, transport, food, clothing and entertainment.

It’s no surprise then, that the one thing that connects most Torontonians other than our love for the city and disdain/embarrassment for it sports franchises is our love for a good deal.

When I saw My City Lives had started a campaign to “Save in the City” I knew I would have a lot to talk about.

Have you heard of My City Lives yet? They do kind of what I’m trying to do: connect a personal story and experience to a place of interest to help authentically and personally define the city. Videos are uploaded by users to the site (or mobile app) and geo-tagged based on location so that other users can experience the location through the eyes of someone who has been there.
The mobile appย  is perfect to kill time while I’m waiting at the hairdressers, or to meet a friend and see what users have posted in the neighbourhood.

This is a map of the “Save in the City” videos near me right now.

Until now, I have been FAR too shy/awkward to post videos of myself online. VLOGing just aint my thang, yknow. But I’m turning over a new leaf and going for it! They aren’t great, but they do have some great tips on how to save money in Toronto!

These are the videos I submitted today to My City Lives. You can read my (written) review of Fuzz Wax Bar here.

For some reason this uploaded sideways? Can’t figure out how to fix it on the app so let’s ignore it please?
