Update: 28/10/11 @ 1 a.m. – This contest is now closed.
The winner of the pair of tickets to the #PowerHouseofTerror is @RiotonBroadway! Congrats!
It’s my first bloggity giveaway! And what better thing to give away than some screams and pant-wetting at this time of year?
Charity House has offered me a pair of tickets to give away so two of you have the chance to experience the PowerHouse of Terror this Halloween! The PowerHouse of Terror is a series of haunted houses and attractions guaranteed to play on your deepest fears, whether they be zombies (holler!), clowns, dead babies, men with chainsaws chasing you.
The PowerHouse of Terror is held on very haunted grounds itself, so its no wonder creepy things happen there at this time of year. The PowerHouse was built by patients of the Lakeshore Psychiatric Centre in 1936 and powered the asylum until it closed in 1979. The grounds were used as burials for over 1,500 patients. The Toronto Ghosts Research Society claims there are 3-5 reports of peculiar and creepy happenings per month at the PowerHouse, making it one of Toronto’s most active haunts!
Think you’re brave enough to enter the CarnEvil Manor where the PowerHouse caretakers live, the Quarantined Zombie Jail where the undead wander while scientists race to find a cure to the Z1 virus or the haunted house inspired by Insidious? I’m probably too chicken to do any of these, but for bloggertainment’s sake I’ll try to get some pictures of me soiling myself in front of some zombies or former patients of the “Asylum on the Lake”:
If you can handle the haunted houses, you may even be brave enough to try Buried Alive – a ride allows you to simulate being buried alive in a real coffin. There’s lots of other fun stuff at the PowerHouse including a sideshow and a magician!
The PowerHouse is open all weekend until Monday at 10pm when they close down the doors until next year’s spooktivities. While it’s always terrifying to venture out of my little city bubble that spans from Spadina to Roncesvalles, the PowerHouse is located at Kipling and Lakeshore. Come on, it’s not that creepy – it is still totally accessible by TTC!
1. Tweet the following message: “I want to go to @CharityHaunt #PowerHouseofTerror courtesy of @JamieLeighTO. RT to enter.”
2. Comment on this post and tell me what you’re dressing up as for Halloween!
Enter both ways for two entries in the draw!
Winners will be drawn randomly via Random.org and will be announced at midnight tonight!
