I’m blogging during a tornado warning – take that Mother Nature! I’m sitting in our front window watching the storm and it’s beautiful. What’s a surge protector?! 😉
I’m in “end of summer panic mode” so Jordan and I have been making lots of plans and doing lots before the snow comes again. Does anyone else get that anxiety that we have so much to do before the summer ends?
Went to the 5th Annual Fortress party in Baysville on Saturday. It was our second year going. Our friend Kate is from Huntsville and she introduced us to the party and its organizer (Caleb) last summer. The Fortress is like a massive tree house with 2 levels, a couple rooms, a stage for bands, a DJ booth, a dancefloor, and 2 bars.
The deal is you have to bring a 26er of booze or a case of beer to put behind the bar and then the bartenders serve you all night (for free)! Everyone makes a donation to the Fortress too so that Caleb can continue to have these awesome parties and keep building more onto the Fortress. Caleb lets us pitch tents on his massive (and gorgeous!) property so that people don’t have to worry about driving home. There were 2 bands and a bunch of DJs to make sure everyone was having a good time.
It was too dark to take pictures with my phone and it died pretty early in the night. Kind of a good thing because pictures really don’t do the Fortress justice. It’s actually a movie set! Wish I got a picture of the guy who threw his clothes into the fire and did a sort of weird tribal dance around the fire all night.
Strange to think my little brother Blake is moving out of our parents house in less than 2 weeks. He’s moving to Guelph to get his undergrad. So proud of him for getting into university! So proud that he made a tough decision to move away from home and live in residence. I did and I think it’s so important! Learning to live on your own and live with strangers teaches you so much about yourself. Guelph is a good city for him. Blake has been driving back and forth from Guelph for a few days now because he already got a job there for the school year. How awesome is that!? He works hard, just like me. Hear that James (baby bro)? You’ve got a lot to live up to 😉
